The Partnership with KfW: A Key Pillar of Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week

The German Development Bank (KfW) is a highly experienced financial institution and development agency with expertise in financing, in-depth knowledge of development policy, and extensive domestic and international experience. On behalf of the German Federal Government, primarily the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), KfW finances and supports programs and projects that predominantly involve public sector stakeholders in developing countries and emerging economies—from conception and implementation to monitoring their success.

KfW’s mission is to assist partner countries in poverty reduction, peacekeeping, environmental and climate protection, and shaping globalization in a sustainable and responsible way.

Jasmina Salihagić, Director of KfW in Sarajevo, participated as a panelist in the discussion: “Financing a Just Energy Transition: Trends and Challenges.”

In addition to discussing energy efficiency, Jasmina shared insights on environmental and social (E&S) aspects related to renewable energy projects.

Another panelist, Milica Knežević, Regional Coordinator for Energy Sector Projects at KfW, took part in the panel:

“Efficient Transmission and Distribution Networks as the Backbone of the Green Transition.”

She provided an overview of the green transition and the challenges it faces from the perspective of the energy sector.
