Dr. Jurij Curk has more than 30 years of professional experience. He has worked in different areas of electric energy industry, starting from university, design, engineering, development and manufacturing of equipment to consulting, energy system policy and project development.His main area of specialization was always power system network, transmission as well as distribution. He started with design documentation in IBE Elektroprojekt for some of the earliest substation remote control systems in the area and later with company Korona power engineering as system engineer.During these times he got position of Assistant and later Assistant professor at the University of Ljubljana. He was involved in several strategic transmission and distribution network development studies and took part at the first version of a Distribution code in Slovenia.To gather practical experiences and knowledge from the sites and to share it with the students, he joined several times commissioning teams of ABB on the projects in Qatar.In 1998 he joined Iskra Sysen producing numerical relays. He at first took position of R&D department manager and later also position of Protection and Control division manager.In 2007 he started to work as independent consultant and engineer, mostly involved in projects related to distribution and transmission network development.After that in 2013 he joined the Metronik company, the largest automation company in the region taking responsibility to set up a power system division. He was involved in projects with VRB energy storage and WAMS, as well as several SHPP automation systems, even in Japan and Uganda.In 2018 he was invited by the board to join the biggest Slovenian distribution utility Elektro Ljubljana d.d. where he works as advisor to the board responsible for technological development. He is also responsible for smart grid and charging infrastructure for EVs development in the company.
