Ms. Matonienė has 22 years of experience in the field of sustainable environment, climate change and public finance management. She has a master’s degree in economic sciences and a bachelor’s degree in management and administration. She was  10 years a member of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and coordinator of its Environment, Climate Change and Energy Commission.  Ms. Matonienė was appointed as Ambassador of the Covenant of Mayors initiative and has experience with sustainable energy and climate policy development and SECAP implementation. She is a former Deputy Mayor responsible for public finance and environmental management, as well as a former Deputy Minister of Environment, both in Lithuania. Furthermore, she co-chaired the United Nations ‘United for Smart Sustainable Cities Platform’ and she has experience in implementing Sustainable Development Goals.
