The Sarajevo Energy & Climate Week (SECW) brings together key stakeholders in the energy and climate sectors to present sustainable policies and practices. The event focuses on achieving EU goals through research and real-world needs, offering simultaneous sessions and numerous networking opportunities with experts, international organizations, the business community, and the media.
The goal of SECW is to support the transition to a sustainable energy system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans region, raise awareness about the importance of sustainable energy and climate change, and connect participants from various sectors to exchange knowledge and innovative technologies.
The mission of SECW is to build a sustainable future through dialogue, cooperation, and innovative solutions, inspiring the development of a sustainable energy sector for the next 50 years.

Welcoming speeches and Opening Remarks
Keynote: "Preparations for Energy Transformation: Transposition of the EU Acquis and Implementation of Commitments under the Paris Agreement and the Sofia Declaration on the Green Deal for the Western Balkans"
Panel I: "Achieving Decarbonization by 2050: Strategic Approach to Phasing Out Fossil Fuels, Coal Exit, and Ending Subsidies for Fossil Fuels"
Discussion focused on the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, where government and industry representatives will share their visions for decarbonizing the economy, focusing on specific strategies and policy frameworks necessary to achieve the EU's climate goals defined through the NECPs. Special attention will be given to the application of the CBAM to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans from January 2026, as well as the decision to gradually phase out coal and transition to renewable energy sources. The discussion will address the Just Transition of coal-rich regions, the transformation of economies in these regions and local communities, as well as the sustainability of the system and methods of financing the transition
Panel II: "Dynamics of the Electricity Market Development: Adapting to EU Regulations and Trends"
Panelists will highlight current changes in the electricity market, energy markets in the region and the EU, influenced by EU regulations, including their impact on prices, investments, and innovations. The discussion will also address the impact of the CBAM on the electricity market and the mechanism for excluding electricity from this framework, the effect of PPA contracts on the electricity market, and other challenges. The panel will analyze the functioning of the regional electricity exchange ADEX and other electricity exchanges in the region, along with the challenges and opportunities facing Bosnia and Herzegovina in establishing and operating its electricity market.
